The seemingly contradictory statements have perhaps a possible explanation if the Fedex uses xray machines like those in hand baggage airport controls - they don't damage films.

Doubt it - why not use those machines for everything? My assumption is that larger pieces of luggage or cargo need higher powered machines, thus the increased radiation.

Anyway, I don't think that all mail can be scanned anyway. Imagine the volumes! Who is supposed to look at the scan results of millions of packages a day? I guess it can be automated to some extent and have computers analyse the pictures... but as I said, don't worry about it.

HI .. allow me to share .. below .. ( I could well be ignorant , though, as your guys are PROs)
1st : I know from Germany, air cargoes are film-save Xrayed.. prior loading on planes.
Hope the above news a soothing dose .. Or enlighten me .
2nd : Basing in HK, in business, imaging related for some time, I buy from Europe and USA .. medic, aero, industrial xrays .. on biweekly or monthly basis..
Wonder say, if there is no interest conflicts, like much to see if we could be partners ..
Feel free to mail me .. or I could be reached 5pm LA time, via 714 8813356...
cheerio.. and have a good one ... CY (friends call me See Why ? )

I've ordered film from freestyle in the US without any problems.

Anyone see the article about TSA is now going to X-ray all air cargo?

Maybe this questions is best asked first of film re-sellers to make sure that they are aware of this situation and in fact are securing a way of getting around this adverse consequence.

    Cheers!

Wrap your film up in sheet lead.
