    4x5 Chamonix fresnel screen caution

In the middle of a studio shoot a few days ago the fresnel screen dropped into the bellows. It was easily replaced but other owners of this camera might want to check to see how secure the screen is before it possibly ruins a shoot or is lost in the field when the back is removed. Other wise, I really like this camera!

I had an issue with both the ground glass and the fresnel screen in my 45N-1 and Hugo had Chamonix ship me replacements right away. My issue wasn't fit, but yours should fit snugly into the frame.

    Barry,
Yes you are correct. The fresnel screen is undercut and thus does not fit snugly under the ground glass and may fall out. Hopefully this will come to the attention of Chamonix and they will correct this in future production runs.

Mine's got a good 1/16th inch of overlap on top and bottom, looks like mine is ok! Maybe yours was cut a bit short on accident. Thanks for the warning though!
