Tetenal C-41 Press Kit, who's using it?

    I refer to this:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...s_Kit_for.html

I found some slightly old C41 sheet film in my cabinet and want to shoot it but no one local is processing C41 sheet film (or anything C41 but 35mm minilab). I have some equally old liquid C41 chemistry that I will try, its in unopened containers but expired. I'll need to buy more even if it works. This Tetenal kit seems a good solution as its in smallish quantities and should keep fairly well as its dry powders. I know about the downsides of one step blixes and don't really care. Once I get the film scanned I don't have to have it last forever.

My question is about the results people are getting in actual use.
    Is it working for you?

    Informed comments are encouraged.

    Thanks in advance.

I use it all the time.... best place i found to buy it is BH photo. I have found it dev more contrast than minilab machine negs. I use it for Ektar and it makes my scans look like they were from Fuji slide film.... I like it. I have not seen the downside of the bleachfix you talked about. I develop at 85 degrees because its easier for me to maintain temp. I use the liquid chemistry its easier to mix.

Re: Tetenal C-41 Press Kit, who's using it?

I started this thread last year:
    http://www.largeformatphotography.in...hlight=tetenal

The Tetenal kit is excellent, gives better contrast and colour than most labs I've used.
If you're careful, you can extend its capacity to about 60 sheets of 4x5 using the same batch of chemicals.
It's very easy to mix, directions are straightforward.
In the thread above, you'll find lots of good advice, including adding a few drops of Photo-Flo to your stabilizer.

I'd use the expired chems to process non-important film, just as a test.
If it comes out looking good, then by all means, use it as you normally would.

I use two water pre-soak baths of one minute each, as I found this helps with streaking.
I process at 40˚C in a Jobo 2553 tank, which holds 12 sheets of 4x5 or six rolls of 120, on a motorized base.
Total time is about 16 minutes, including wash and stabilizer, then hang to dry.

Post your results, I hope it works out well for you.

    Thanks, good info so far.
I am particularly interested in hearing from whoever's using the powder kit.

Although now I see that Freestyle has more options I might consider:

But probably the powder for easier storage and shipping.

I don't understand, Henry; the Tetenal is the powder kit.

The ease of mixing and using the Tetenal kit makes it an ideal way to get into C-41 processing without having to purchase large quantities of chemicals.

Your old thread makes much reference (perhaps buy others) to liquid kits.
I don't think Tetenal offers liquid these days, but the Freestyle link shows some others.

But, I guess --you personally-- have been referring to powder kits all along?

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the replies.

Yes, that's right, sorry for my own misunderstanding.
I have only used powder kits, I have no experience with liquid C-41 kits.

Re: Tetenal C-41 Press Kit, who's using it?

I used to use Nova's kits, and switched over to Tetenal due to the costs to bring them in from the U.K. I've used 6 - 10 of them. I have kept one of them mixed up for just over a year before with over 20 rolls of film run through it with a very sleight color difference over a freshly mixed kit. Unnoticeable unless compared side-by-side.
