This may not seem like a LF question...A couple of us will be in Las Vegas this week and may have a little extra time. Are there any galeries that would be wor th seeing. We are of course interested in LF and prefer to look at photographs that are in focus and a little more traditonal. Any suggestions?

I know of none but when you get there just call a camera store and they will know if any are around. james
Although I can't vouch for the current status, there was a photo gallery in the Caesar's Palace shopping mall. It was at the end back by the large circular aquarium. They had the works of several great photographers like Robert Glenn Ketchum.

Your best chance for a gallery is the Library District (which has art galleries in each of the libraries) or a place called the Art Factory. There really isn't much here to see in terms of fine arts. One interesting possibility is a show of old west photographs including images by Muybridge (sp?) and Watkins at the Clark County Historical Center. The phone# is 702-455-7955.

John, that gallery you refer to in the Caesars Forum shops is long gone. But it was the ultimate LF photo gallery with prints from some of the biggest names in the field. The store was only available for 9 months before the Discovery channel moved into the space for a lease rate of $100,000 per month! Yes, thats not a typo! They guy who ran the gallery for 9 months got a special deal since it was an interm lease, only $35,000 per month. It's no wonder galleries struggle to be successful! So anyone coming to Vegas, don't bother looking there for it any longer. There is no Photo galleries in this town that I am aware of, but there is several nice galleries in the Caesars forum shops, but none sell photography.

You might enjoy a nice meal at the Black Mountain Grill. They have some of my pictures on the walls. Theme was industrial archeology in Nevada. Old Machines. Jim
