Thread: Screen Cezanne Users Unite

    Re: Screen Cezanne Users Unite

Nobody a guess? I thought I found it one time, but I cannot remember how. I just can remember how to set highlights and shadows in positive scanning mode.

I found a way to use Color Genius 2 negative scanning mode without blown highlights and blocked-up shadows. The color conversion of CG2 does a great job. But white balance is still automatic and I need to adjust it (e.g. by pointing at a neutral grey area) to make proper use of it.

Just replaced my lamps with a Dulux L like user JJCNER on another thread.
    Easy. Simple. Great.
    Regular lamps cost 15usd.
    I also got this 5600K for 30usd:

Did you change the ballasts? Care to share more details?

I removed the original lamps and their sockets, wires up to the black connectors on the back.
Glued the new socket on the bracket in the back (where black connectors were screwed to).
Made a 45 angle support on the front to take the weight of the lamp.
Ran the the wires from the socket to the new ballast outside the scanner. The new ballast is plugged in another 110v outlet, separate from the scanner. When I turn the powerbar on, it is on.

My first run was with a regular 4000k lamp. At 5min warmup time, the driver complainted about low light intensity. Tried again at 20min, all good.

Will try the 5600k lamp after Carnaval.

Thanks for reporting on your bulb switch! Eventually, this is what we'll all have to do.

The 5600K lamp was much better. No low light warnings.

    Here are a few pics:

In the front I placed a piece of wood to hold the weight of the lamp:

In the back I removed everything and used epoxy glue to hold the lamp socket to the bracket:

The 4 black wires the come out of the socket run to the outside and go to the thing here. This is a 110v/220v thing, so I tried different outlets and different voltages to see if I could get rid of the my line problem this way, but nothing solves that.

    Hi Christian,

I read a few of your posts and I would be grateful to read more about your workflow for scanning negs on the Cezanne.

I tried to get raw data from the scanner, but it doesn't look like it's possible. The idea was to do the reversal in software, to get a predictable look. Your posts seem to confirm that log encoding does indeed take place, without users being able to get the data before that happens. I would be grateful if you could post details on how you scan your negs and or any tips on how to get "consistent" colors.

    Big thanks

    Kaka
