Fresh bulbs from a typical dealer cost about $600, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a $500 Cezanne in good condition...

I don't use Screen's masks either, as they are a bit of a pain to use. I make mine out of very thin semi-rigid black plastic. You don't have to wet-mount, although it does give slightly better quality. It's not that hard to make new beds, masks, hold downs....

I have the clamshell metal bed and holders. I found that they smeared detail at high resolutions.

Can someone please explain the magnification setting in colour genius for me please. I always set it to 100%. I think I might be missing something.

    Thanks

Yeah, just do that. My guess is that it's a remnant from how the pre-press system worked in the early 1990s.

I have a chance to buy a Screen Cezanne FT5000 with an Apple G4 for 150 euro (170 USD) from a local printing house. The scanner is from 1998 and no one has any idea when the bulb was last changed (if ever), since they were not using it for a while and the operator is not working at the company anymore. But theoretically it is functioning as it should.
I would use it to scan 4x5 and 5x7 negatives. Is this setup significantly better than an Epson V700 for prints 50X70?
Would you consider this price fair for it?
    Thanks in advance, Barna

Thank you Peter for your reply.
I suppose you were referring to the price.
What about the quality compare to Epson V700?

Yes for price, yes for better than a V700.
If working with negatives, you can consider installing different bulbs, like I did here:
