    Film Holders

Was interested in purchasing some additional 5x7 and 4x5 film holders and seem t o remember reading that Fidelity and Lisco were manufactured by the same company . The original holders I purchased were Fidelity and they seemed to work fine. I s there any reason that I should be concerned about purchasing some Lisco holder s? Thanks.

I have both Fidelity and Lisco holders in 2x3, 4x5, & 8x10, and as far as I can tell there is no difference between the two brands.

Michael: I read your post and compared the Lisco and Fidlity holders side by side. To my surprise, the are both marked as being made in Sun Valley, Calif. and carry the same U.S. patent number. The only difference is a different pattern around the film chamber. Otherwise, they are identical to the smallest measurement. I have several of both and have been well satisfied with both. One problem to watch for with plastic holders...the bar across the top where the slide goes in can warp enough to prevent the holder from seating tightly against the camera back. I have three that are unuasable because of this fault.

Howdy Dudes! I just recently started using 4 by 5 but have come across a used shop that has a large box filled with the 5 by 7 holders, i believe they hold 2 sheets each but have not picked one up to verify. If you like, I can check this out; let me know.. miles mfa1@ix.netcom.com

For 5x7 and 8x10 holders in good condition at a very reasonable price contact gdwnphoto@aol.com. They are a used photographic equipment store and have all kinds of hidden treasures. And no, I don't work there. Amy is a good knowlegable person. James

I love the older Riteways (not to be confused with the new ones which are expensive and i have heard nothing but bad things about).I get them at camera shows for about 7 to 8 dollars apiece. the tape on the bottom is much better than the new fidelities and the finger thats holds the darkslide actually works.before you buy them just check that the tape is not to worn and that the holder is pretty clean. Before I use them I check them for leaks and i usually vaccum them out and clean them with alcohol.-J
