I used an Epson V850 set to 4200dpi. I used Vuescan software and set multipass to 16 (max) I wet mounted the negative using Kami scan fluid, clear optical mylar onto ANR glass from Betterscanning. I also used their holder to adjust the focus of the scanner. I still need to fine tune the focus, but it is pretty much there. I then created and saved a linear tif raw file, brought into photoshop and converted it using Colorperfects, colorneg plug in. From there it was typical photoshop stuff. Final sharpening (only sharpening) was done with a high pass filter and duplicate layer that was desatruated. I used the overlay setting for the destaturated layer and set the layer blending on the top slider of the bottom two to 80 and 180 for a mid-tone sharpening. See http://www.kennethleegallery.com/html/tech/index.php about half way or so down the page for info on this.

Any other questions you have let me know.

My first couple of 4x5 shots from my backyard:

Horseman HF; Fujinon 180/9 A (FP4+, Pyrocat HD semi-stand; one shot DSLR scan of negative):

    Rodenstock 135/5.6 Sironar N

Definitely a learning process! Looks as if my "A" holder has a light leak, and I was a bit surprised that the shot with the Fuji didn't have a thicker DOF at f22, but otherwise I'm looking forward to having my LF kit with me for the upcoming winter season here in the Smokies.

    Great start!
Also consider the possibility of flare from oblique light.
