I imagine a lot of photographers shot it. I have hazy recollection of seeing a print of it by either Ansel Adams or one of the Weston's. When I shot it, maybe 15 years ago, the area was restricted and roped off. But the only way to image it is to get up close with the widest lens you have. I'm just guessing that it is a Cypress (maybe it's a Bristlecone Pine?) and I wonder if it's still there.

I hope people don't mind me posting an image I took several years ago. This was a surprising day on a hike along the Crest Trail in the Sandia Mountains near Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have been monitoring this forum lately as I am contemplating getting back into LF photography.
