I went scouting in the searing heat a couple of weeks ago and stopped by this very small cemetery which has only these two big weeping purple beeches overshadowing the center portion as points of interest. Although you could hardly be in the sun, under the trees it was nice and cool and although I had planned to return in the evening I ended up exposing a few sheets then and there because I was convinced I wouldn't melt under the dark cloth. Shooting up is always more tiring and not something I like doing when it is 3pm on a hot day. But I found out that the middle of the day is probably the best place to shoot there. This was about the only spot I could find a composition from and after 3 the light disappeared from the cross and later it would set right in front of the camera, as if there wasn't enough trouble exposing film under a dark purple tree in the middle of a sunny day. The result isn't quite as luminous as I had hoped but not as bad as I had feared either.
The trees are probably from around 1850, that is what it says on the monument right in between the trees.
