Stand of Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) in Durham County NC. This is somewhat outside its natural range but the trees, initially planted by the Duke University forestry school 80 or so years ago, are obviously doing well, and the grove is spreading downstream. I've been spending a lot of time in and around these stands in the past months, as it is close to my house and I am fascinated by the trees. I'm going to buy some waders; there are lots of places I can't get to with knee-high muck boots and stay dry.

Thank you. I agree the tonal scale isn't "right". The main problem is that I overdeveloped the negative. I then tried stretching it out in scanning and post-processing. But it still looks too compressed on the high end and I agree that makes it resemble bad tonemapping/HDR, which is certainly not the effect I want. I'll be re-shooting this one.

Recent kallitype print, toned in thiourea, from 4x10 (split darkslide) fomapan 200 negative.

Wista Field DX, sironar 150mm 5.6 @ f22, 1/4s. Fomapan 100 4x5, rotary developed in rodinal 1:50 @ 20C for 8 minutes.
