Stuck in Suva on a Sunday afternoon, I went for an old-fashioned photo walk like I used to do with 35mm, and shot everything I saw. Well, not quite like 35mm, as I only made 8 exposure in two hours (and I was cranking em out).

Anyway, I don't shoot trees very often, but in between the chillies in the market and the graffiti,I shot up into this flamboyant tree. 1/8 sec. f16, Shanghai in D-23

That's lovely, Alex! Is this on 8x10? It looks quite grainy (and pleasantly so!), what film is this? Red filter and/or pola?

Thanks mate. This is 4x5, 150mm through the chamonix with a red 25 filter on TMY. These weird lines are appearing in my scans (you'll notice 2/3 across on the right hand side) i've no idea where it's coming from

same place every scan on all different negs.

Hah, nice, TMY! I must try this film as well one day, but I currently have a couple of boxes of TMX that I got for a good price, so I'm working my way through them. I really like it too! I've heard some people complain about TMX, and initially I wasn't too fond of it either, but as my experience with black & white photography grows, so does my fondness for TMX.

Yes, I spotted that line in your image. I'm bugged by something similar myself; when scanning transparencies, I am getting one line along the length of the scanner bed as well. It must be a speck of dust on the transparency illuminator or something. I have tried to clean it out, but to no avail so far. Usually I can heal it out in post processing though, so it's not a big deal. Usually, this kind of artifact tends to be caused by dust on the scanner lamp, mirrors or even the LCD strip. A really good cleaning should take care of it in most cases, but I don't have a place that is sufficiently free of dust to do a really proper cleaning.
