    This tree once grew in the Olympic Nat’l Forest (Washington state).

    It crashed into a river & floated to the sea – storm waves buried it here.

    (This beach is near the forest in the image above.)

    Very nice. I just saw another Astia shot of trees and was equally surprised by the really vivid greens. Is that typical of the emulsion?

    Heroique--Thank you for continuing the story.

    Bradley--Because Astia is less contrasty, I find it scans better than many other positive films. Mid-tone contrast is a little more subdued in the print on cotton rag paper and the green a little less vivid. I switched to color negative film last year and am still learning.

    Combining the two outstanding features of the Snake range in NV, the Bristlecone pines and the vertical face of Mt. Wheeler. I set one against the other and waited for the light from the passing clouds to isolate the pine tree.
