I use a 1540 drum with plastic Jobo reels.
I recently got a second one (44 bucks) and a bunch of extra Jobo reels (12 bucks each) all from B&H. I also spent another 15 bucks (I think) for the geared-head top. You could spend ten bucks to convert the 1540 top to a cogged top.
These Jobo reels are convertible, they can do 135, 127 and 120/220 ...
I'm very happy with them on my CPP-2. I also use Expert drums on my CPP-2, I have to remember to pull the lever to engage the lower or higher feed/drain point ...

The 1540 comes with the rod, the tank, a non-cogged lid and one JOBO reel. For compatibility with the CPP-2, buy the ten-dollar cogged-wheel to replace the top of the included non-cogged lid. Alternatively, you can buy the cogged lid for this tank for 16-20 bucks.
I really can't say if this set up will work with a Patterson reel as I've never owned one.
As I mentioned, the JOBO reels are pretty cheap at 12 bucks each; I now have 10 in rotation.
No only Jobo reels will fit Jobo tanks.
Which tank to get depends on volume and what else you need to process.
You can go with the 1500 line of tanks saving some on chemicals. Or you can go with the 2500 line of tanks. The 2500 will take up to 4x5 film and can exchange parts with the 2800 print tanks.
It's up to you.
