    Re: Bridges

A few bridges from my hometown (Bielefeld, Germany).

Some of that is from my pre-LF period.

    Greetings, Thomas

Bridges, eh? I previously posted this one that I took last summer in New Westminster, BC. It's a view of the Sky Train Bridge from under the Pattullo Bridge (8x10 contact print HP5 on forte polygrade V).

Great subject - but not easy to do well. I've spent lots of time and wasted lots of film trying to get better than just get snapshots of bridges. Here are two I'm happy to share. And three on the next post.
    • The first is a footbridge at an alligator swamp on Sapelo Island, GA.
    • The second is of the supports of an old railway bridge in the Lehigh Valley, PA.

    And the next three:
    • This is Stockley Bridge over Grain Gill in the English Lake District. It's (allegedly) the wettest place in England.
    • The second is a lovely footbridge at Cong Abbey in Ireland.
    • And the third is the Millennium Bridge (aka the Bouncey Bridge) across the Thames in London leading to St Pauls Cathedral.

I've been to this location several times. The pond there isn't exactly what we call a swamp down south but there is sometimes an alligator or two seen there. Unfortunately they are poached frequently.

    Re: Bridges

The Kilmarnock lock bridge near Smith Falls, Ontario on a very grey day. The rain was just starting and the clouds were touching the treetops when I shot this. I think it's a scan of a 4x5 contact print. The film was FP4+ in a Calumet monorail. I never have any luck with scans - the prints are much nicer. On this one the timber framing that supports the bridge is washed out and on the prints it is as clear as a bell (I just went to look...)

    cheers
