I have a Cezanne Elite and sold off a Minolta Dimage Scan II, a consumer grade 35mm 2750 dpi scanner. Yesterday I was testing the Dimage for the new buyer and during a index scan I noticed how loud the scanner is, how much vibration was coming from the surface of the enclosure. When the Cezanne is scanning an image index you can hear the stepper but you can't feel any vibration and when you scan you can't hear the stepper at all and no vibration whatsoever. The next time you scan check out the sound being generated and see if you can feel any vibration from the scanner enclosure. This vibration along with optics is what controls the resolve capability of a scanner.
