Inaugural Show: "Friends of Project Basho" at Project Basho Gallery

Following a successful POST event featuring works by Richard Boutwell and Kara Lafluer, our inaugural show titled "Friends of Project Basho" opened two weeks ago and will run through November 30th.

The show features the works of students, instructors, monitors, darkroom users, and others who have been actively engaged in photographic activities at Project Basho. It attempts to portray a sense of community and the diversity of talent at Project Basho as well as represent a vibrant segment of the current photographic scene in Philadelphia.

If you have not seen the show, stop by our newly renovated gallery space on Germantown Ave.

Over 1100 submissions for ONWARD '08

ONWARD '08, the first juried photography competition, was quite well-received both nationally and internationally. We had almost 300 photographers submitting over 1100 photographs from as far as Hong Kong and Europe.

We are working with Andrea Modica closely, and the selection process is underway. We hope to announce the names of selected photographers in the coming weeks.

The selected works will be featured in a group show "ONWARD '08" at Project Basho Gallery in January '08 as well as in our online gallery. By looking at the works submitted, this show is sure to be great with fresh and visually stimulating images. The work definitely captures an overview of what contemporary emerging photographers are working on and includes formal as well as conceptual issues and photographic media.
