It doesn't get much better. I am in DC this week and the Corcoran Gallery has a magnificent pairing of shows, Ansel Adams (through January 27th) and Annie Leibowitz, a Photographers Life (through January 13th).

How could anyone pair Ansel Adams with that vile Annie Liebowitz? If she can make it into his showing, there's hope for the rest of us. But on the other hand, people are actually paying to read Margaret Attwood's drivel; wherever I fly in the world, she's smirking at me from bookstore windows.
Walter, next trip, I'm all booked with family events this time around. I have a brother and a daughter in DC.

What an odd pair! Isn't that like going to a Mozart concert with the Roling Stones as opening act ?
My wife and I attended the showings at the Corcoran last week and urge anyone who has the opportunity to go see it. It is an inspired pairing of photographers, my hat is off to Paul Roth and the Corcoran for putting these two exhibits together.
Before this I had never seen any original Adams prints and I was not disappointed.
The real eye opener (for me) was the Leibowitz exhibition. The portrait work on display was exceptional and the display of some of her contact sheets was fascinating.
Daniel, I went through the Adams first then the Lebowitz, so it was more like Mozart opening for the Stones, and it was a magnificent day.
Does anyone know if these two shows will be touring to any other locations?

The Adams show has been traveling. It was at the Boston MFA two years ago, most recently at George Eastman House in Rochester. The Corcoran might be able to tell you, I'll just say that it's worth traveling to see.
Absolutely, even if you saw AA at 100 a few years ago, which I flew to Chicago to see, this is a bit of a different mix.I'll just say that it's worth traveling to see.
