    Jeff,

    As a commercial shooter who has many thousands of dollars worth of fancy lighting at his disposal, let me say I think you could actually do really well with nothing more than North light and a reflector. It will allow you to simplify your approach and really focus on the image-making. I'd get 2 rolls of seamless paper, 1 grey and 1 white in 4 foot widths (they're cheap). Place the background as far from the flowers as your space permits.

    Links to paper at B&H White Charcoal

    These are just suggestions, get whatever colors or shades you think may work well.

    Lastly, I'm not sure If I posted a link before, but here's a recent blog post I made about my setup.

    Christopher:

    Thank you very much for sharing your tremendous talent/knowledge. Your work absolutely exemplifies what I hope to emulate somewhere in the future - you've set a high bar. Until then, it will be a terrific journey. Thanks for the B&H links to background paper. And lastly, I have read your blog post, several times in fact, and learn something new each read. The images combined with your thorough explanation has been a valued asset.

    Warm regards;

    Jeff

    I made a budget version of Chris' setup, maybe $30USD, and have been getting nice results: https://www.instagram.com/p/BSeoffLBXda/

    2 5600k CFL bulbs in plastic tub with a white ripstop nylon diffuser, 2 foamcore reflector panels, and a black art display panel.
