It just a shoot, Thanks.
Petunias.
Vogel, very nice. The background is an interesting part of the image, together with the flower.
gsinico, great petunias!
I'm hoping to get some feedback from the excellent flora photographers on this thread regarding a lens decision I'm facing. Please take a look at this post - http://www.largeformatphotography.in...=1#post1391474 - let me know your thoughts.
Thank you;

I appreciate the comments received and ultimately decided to purchase the Rodenstock APO-Macro-Sironar 180mm f/5.6 lens. I intend to use it with my Arca F-Metric 4x5 to photograph flora. The work posted on this thread is truly inspirational. I never considered this genre of photography until I pursued this thread - absolutely stunning imagery. As I get started, it is my intent to shoot with lford FP4+. At this time, I don't have sufficient funds to acquire studio-type lighting equipment; however, I do have a large north-facing window and a few reflectors. With some experimentation, I hope to find a subtle indirect ambient lighting arrangement that will work effectively.
Like most things in this endeavor, choosing an appropriate background color/material is not my strong suit. I'd appreciate recommendations/comments. I'd also like input on what distance from the subject to background cloth/paper is preferred?
If it is helpful, I want to achieve an almost "formal portrait" quality to final images where the background does not compete or distract, but instead helps to isolate the flora being photographed.
Lastly, because of my location in Arizona, I'm wanting to explore this type of photography with some of the smaller cacti. Any comments on that interest is also appreciated. Sorry for opening a can of worms, but I've got a lot of newbie questions.
Many thanks;
Jeff D Welker
