Hi Jon - Someone in another forum where I asked this same question mentioned those instructions also. Before posting my question here I searched the instructions on the Harman web site for the Glossy AL paper and didn't see anything like that but maybe I just overlooked it.

The instruction sheet I have is the one that came in the box with the paper. It says, under "Suggested Settings" for the 3800: "Media - Premium Glossy Paper Mode - Custom/Advanced/Superfine 1440 dpi/ICM."

Jon - Are we looking at the same web site? I'm looking at www.harman-inkjet.com. The only instructions I see for paper settings for the Glossy AL paper is just a reprint of the instruction sheet that comes in the box of paper that I quoted earlier. I don't see anything like you quoted. I've looked under both "Technical Information" and "Profiles." Could you point me to where you found the instructions you mentioned? Thanks.

Ah. That explains it. I gave them the email address I use only for purchases, to reduce spam in my principal mailbox, and that I never look at because it contains nothing but spam (usually). I'm just going to use my normal settings (let photoshop determine colors, turn off color management in the printer) and forget ICM. Kind of interesting though that they say one thing in the instructions that come with the paper, duplicate those instructions on their web site, and then say something else in the pdf.

Hi, sorry I was mistaken, the pdf is in the same zipped folder as the profile that you download from their site.

Re: Settings Used With Harman FB Glossy Paper

Hi Jon - This is getting kind of comical, my trying to track down these instructions long after the original reason for wanting them has disappeared, but I've now devoted so much time to it that I'm determined to find them regardless of whether I even bother to read them or not . : - ) I actually opened the mailbox I mentioned in my earlier post and didn't see them there either so I figured they must be at yet another place. I didn't open the other file that comes with the profiles so if that's where they are I wouldn't have seen them. Kind of odd that Harman would say to use no color correction in those instructions and ICM in the others. But thanks very much for solving the mystery of the missing instructions.

    Image Quality
Many factors influence the output quality obtained using the supplied HARMAN Inkjet ICC profiles. These factors include local ambient conditions such as temperature, humidity, print drying conditions and the lighting conditions under which the print is viewed.

It is assumed that the printer manufacturer’s inks are used and that all setup and maintenance guidelines relating to the printer have been adhered to. It is also suggested that for optimum workflow and print quality that the computer monitor be calibrated and profiled on a regular basis.
