    Sinar Copal shutter cable

Is it possible to use a self-cocking sinar copal shutter which lacks the (expensive) OEM cable release? Are there options?

    John,

I don't think so. The length of the plunger on the Sinar cable release is much longer than anything else that I have seen. It also takes some "push" to trigger the shutter so the cable has to be pretty heavy duty.

    John,

I tried a lot of different releases and except for a wire coat hanger straightened out, nothing seems to trigger it. However, I got lucky and within a couple weeks I won two cable releases at auction for around $25 each.
