Kirk, this is a good point. While we are looking for a major response from serious large format photographers and practitioners of alternative processes, it will not exclude work accomplished with point-and-shoot, digital, shadowgrams, Liquid Light on fabric, copiers, etc., provided the work is of high quality, creative, original and unique.
Do you have the power to change the title without changing the history of the thread? Or should I have started a new thread?
Dacotah, it depends upon the success of this show whether it will become an annual event. Consider the three photographer group show in 2010 to be a separate event. It, too, could become an annual show. Right now Shy Rabbit has created these events to test the waters and to determine interest from both photographers and the public. The goal is to offer more photographic events each year. I am hoping that we will see a great representation of large format photography.
Leonard, the prospectus is being advertised nationally, but there is no intent to exclude anyone on this planet if they wish to participate. All are welcome! Consider, however, that the work must be shipped ready for presentation (refer to the prospectus), and the photographer must cover the cost of shipping to the show as well as return of unsold work. We would be very happy to make it an international show!
Pagosa Springs is a small town in Southwestern Colorado. The Continental Divide (San Juans) is to the north and wraps around to the east of town. Photo opportunities abound in the Four Corners region with abandoned mining towns, mine ruins, Anasazi ruins, mountain scenery, and lush Alpine meadows with wild flowers. Santa Fe, with excellent art and photo galleries, is 2 1/2 hours south and Durango, with the outstanding Open Shutter Gallery, is an hour to the west. This area is wonderful for photography and Shy Rabbit is here to support it.
