If you define influence as effect on the course, history and development of photography - then no.

It's hard to take you seriously when you try to state something like that as fact when it clearly is just your opinion. But I'm not going to do to this thread what the OP clearly does not want to happen. And it has been argued again and again.

We don't have an unlimited amount of time to talk about things, so to some degree, online discussion is zero-sum: more time talking about Group f/64 means less time talking about other things, and there's a lot more out there that I think is worthy of attention.

When a good number of conversations end up turning into the same thing over and over again, it makes a community a less interesting place to be, and there's less motivation to participate in it.

Let me start from the back, if a good number of converations end up turning into the same thing (as you beleive it does, which is not necessarily so) then isn't this topic what the community wants to discuss? As such, aren't you asking the community not to discuss something they want to discuss just because it bores you?

Who is this "we" you are talking about? Anybody who is in this forum spends as much time in it as they think is adecuate, to discuss the things they want. Just because you think it is a wasted time, it does not necessarily makes it so. If you want to discuss something then start a thread, pretty much like Kirk did. Don't wait until someone posts something that interests you to participate and certainly don't expect to have only threads that interest you all the time......

In which case Atget has certainly had more influence on photography as a whole and as a practice.

Adams and Weston may (possibly) have influenced more LF photographers (and, strangely enough, HEGR types)
