Adjusting lever tension on Linhof 3-D Head

So I've written that my Linhof 3-D head is the best ever, and it still is, but a dozen airline trips have wacked it slightly so that the lever tension is firmer on one axis than the other. I'd like to loose the one lever up so it has more throw and lighter tension to lock itself down...

Before I crack it open (I have no freaking idea how but I think I need to pry those nice Linhof lables off) does anyone have any words of practical advice from actually adjusting one?

Yes indeed you did - that's why I bought one es well . A bit beaten up and one of the levers is fixed by a screw - but it works very well. I would also prefere the levers for tilting to be less tight. The one for swinging (rotation around vertical ax) is fine. Also when untightened the swing movements are not perfectely smooth. It will need some cleaning and oil.

I think you will have to contact Linhof for some advice. I am also a bit concerned to put mine apart.
