Fellow Melburnians/Australians might be fans like I am of the large format industrial photography of Wolfgang Sievers, who died yesterday at the age of 93. He was a marvellous photographic technician, who documented Australia for industry (when we had industry!) in an especially human and artful way. I have a great book of his iconic pictures when the National Gallery of Victoria did a retrospective on him a few years back.

His photos are an inspiration to me (and many others I'm sure), and his advocacy for displaced people (he himself was a refugee from Nazi Germany) throughout his life heavily informed his work as well.
