    Delta 100... Xtol or ID-11?

I'm going to try out some Delta 100 in 4x5. I process my sheet film in a slosher that holds 6 sheets at a time in an 11x14 tray. I'd like to use either Xtol or ID-11 and either at the 1:3 dilution. Anyone have any experience using either developer with this film? I'm looking for sharpness and great tonality. I'm not after really super duper fine grain. Thanks!

I've used both and prefer Xtol. I usually dilute 1:3 or 1:2 in 120. You might also consider a non-solvent developer as well. Delta 100 grain is pretty fine.

Xtol was developed with Tabular grain films in mind. Although both will work fine, I think the XTOL will give you better sharpness and it is less toxic.

Well, I haven't tried either of those devs but, I use Ilford DDX and get stunning negs. At 1+4, I get a time of 12 mins at 20°C which gives me plenty of time latitude especially when pulling film. One of the best negs I ever printed was taken on Delta 100 with around 10-11 stops of range; developed for 8:30, it captured everything from shadow to highlight and also minute detail.

I'm a DD-X fan, too, but it might get a little expensive with a slosher in an 11x14 tray.
