Rodenstock Wide Angle Eikonar 200mm f/12

The Eikonar were the Rodenstock answer of the Goerz Dagor.
The f/12 Eikonar is a wide angle lens in the design of the Wide Angle Dagor but more rare. I have had one in 160mm focus length and this in 200mm which is more interessting because of its very large image circle.
Rodenstock mentioned an angle of view of 105° that give an image circle of ~500mm or 20 inch.

Today I made a mounting flange for it and a test shot.
I guess it will be interesting for you to see a real picture taken with this lens. I donŽt find any other in the www.

    Fujifilm X-Ray UM-MA film
    Size 18x24cm
    Developed in Wehner Developer.
    I used f/12
Front swinged a little bit in both axis.
    Sinar with rear lens shutter.
    1/2 sec.

Um, er, ah, to approximate crudely and generously, 18x24 cm is roughly equivalent to 8x10 inches. 30 cm diagonal. On 30 cm a 200 mm lens covers 74 degrees. Not a stringent test of coverage. And shooting such a lens wide open is unkind to it.

For me it makes sence to test a lens with full open aperture first and with no or only a minimal shift and swing.
In the next steps I stop down the lens and use camera movements.

In this way IŽam getting information of the complete performance of the lens.
Sharpness is not the only point of interest for me, it is the unique character and it is visible with the full open aperture.

In the next weeks I want to present further samples made with some of my old lenses which are not so well known.

Thanks for bringing the lens to our attention and showing the cross-section.

Thanks a ton for sharing! Definitely keeping this lens in mind for my hypothetical 7x17 kit.
