    Kinda off topic resolution question

Hi, ok I have been toying around with these little point n shoot digicams and am wondering what resolution to send em to on my 4800.The default size on my Canon A640 is width=20.267, Height=15.2, Resolution=180ppi.On my 4x5 and 8x10 scans I always send them at 360ppi.On my Canon dslr's they default at 240ppi and thats what I send them at.So should I up-sample these 180ppi point n shoot shots to say 240ppi, or just leave em at their native ppi. Thanks!

Re: Kinda off topic resolution question

Chris, printed pages in those shiny magazines are routinely done at even lower resolution than 180 dpi, and yet look pretty good.

Also, bear in mind that individual pixels on those 1/1.8" sensors yield much more noise and less DR than those on a DSLR. There must be a point where increasing resolution only amplifies those imperfections, while there must be a bottom line resolution where the details start to get lost.

    Why don't you run a simple test with 180, 240, 300 and 360 dpi? I think that'll be a very illustrative answer.
