    Scott, as long as you don't follow the instructions and scan the 5x7" films emulsion down on the glass carrier, the DuoScan is a very good scanner for the price.

    yes, that may be Ole - but with all due respect - all things are relative and a 2nd hand Linotype-Hell Saphir 2 Ultra, Heidelberg Linoscan 1450 or UMAX 1120 (the basic scanner is the same in all cases).... all should be available for $100 or less. These were once (for the most part) $4000 plus flatbeds. I did the bulk of images on my website with a FAR lesser scanner. A few I did with the 1120 (from 4x5 - but the negative scanning ability is up to 8x10). Probably better than pretty much ANY epson, regardless of price or vintage -if for no other reason than the software...
