Hello All
I don't think that has been asked before so here goes. I have the above items and am looking at a way of successfully pairing the two together.
This is the nub of the problem - the linhof has a very deep base, the screw for the quick release base on the 405 is not long enough( according to Manfrotto the screw is machined to a standard ISO length, so its the TK that is wrong.)
What does this mean? Basically the QR plate will wiggle its way loose (usually at the worst possible time,) so has to be constantly tightened. My question is what do other LF users do when using this combo (or the 410 head?)
The alternative is to utilise the two female connections on the bottom of the TK with an Arca Swiss type of plate (Kirk make a specail linhof plate.) However I want to stay with the 405 and not move to a ball head. I have asked both Arca and Manfrotto if they make an adapter but it appears not.
The only option is to try and find a machine shop to make me a longer screw (apparently its a whitworth type) not the easiest and probably not the most cost effective thing to do...Or take a wander around a DIY store
Anyone with any thoughts...please...!
Guy
