I got the above mentioned meter used a few months ago. I love it. However, I d id not get instructions with it. Can anyone tell me how I will know if the batt ery needs replacement ? Will it just stop working or will readings gradually be come inaccurate? If the readings become gradually inaccurate, how often do you change the battery to avoid this? Thanks

It just doesn't work, if the battery is dead.

Mine is 10-15 years old and still works, so I don't know.

Paul... You can probably buy either an origional or a copied manual at www.craigcamera.com. It's a 1 man operation, and he's efficient and very knowledgable. - Dave

Paul, I own one too. It just stops working when the battery dies, no advance warning and no built-in battery meter. I would recommend carrying a spare battery with you just in case. The batteries in the original package last for years. My meter got jammed into a corner of my carry on bag one time, which depressed the trigger and ran the battery down. When I reached my final destination (in the middle of nowhere, as usual) I was sure glad I had a spare! Regards, ;^D)

Has anyone experienced the following with a Pentax Digital Spot : On some readings, not always the same, the LEDs begin to flash periodically and rapidly, about 5-7 times per second. The reading itself remains accurate however. It will happen on say 13++ and not on 13+ or 14, and some other readings as well. I see no pattern to it.

I first noticed this in very cold conditions and attributed it to that. It happened again this weekend in fairly warm weather. I have not gotten around to purchasing a second battery so don't know if this could be the problem, but the battery still has the same voltage as when new.

    Anyone seen this with theirs?

I experienced this problem, and replacing the battery seemed to solve it. Curiously, the 'old' and 'new' batteries had identical voltages.
