I'm curious if anyone out there in cyberspace has tried out the Hobo LF point 'n shoots, available at http://www.bostick-sullivan.com
They seem like they could be pretty useful in situations where you had to be qui ck and when using wide-angle with deep depth of field.
Obviously, no swings, tilts, etc. But you do get a big negative.
At the Mammoth Camera Workshop in Sandy, Utah the end of June there were both 5x7 and 8x10 HOBO's for use. They were very popular, both in full format and circular format. Fast, easy and lightweight, they made LF 'almost' point and shoot photography. Having good lenses on them was really nice & the participants ran over 150 sheets of film through them in a few days. I know some bought HOBO's after the workshop. Yes, you get a big neg and at times some got surprises due to not paying attention when composing through the viewfinder. They sure do fill a niche & are handy and fun to use. A lot lighter & faster than most of us in LF are used to, I think one or more would be nice to own.
After flying the 8x10" box kite in the Hawai'i trade winds for the last two weeks, the Hobo is looking like a serious possiblity to me at the moment.
Do the Hobo's use sheet film holders? I could not imagine having to load each sheet in a darkroom.
