    An oddity?

    Hi Everyone...

Need to pick your brains for a moment. A friend asked me over to look at some of his stuff this evening, and help him determine what he has. One of the cameras is somewhat of a mystery.

From what I can tell, it looks like a Kodak Number 4 Pocket folding camera. As I understand it, this bugger made 4x5 images on 123 film. The interesting thing about this one is that it has a Graflex Graphic back on it. Apparently it can use sheet film instead of the 123 roll film.

It has a B&L Rapid Rectilinear on it, and comes with a Kodak (B&L also?) Automatic shutter on it (shutter speeds of 1,2,25,50,100,B&T).

I haven't been able to find anything on the internet about this bugger. Is this something that was custom made, or did this camera exist as a normal option on the Number 4 "Pocket" cameras?

    Also, any idea of worth?

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. Will try to get some pictures up in a bit.

My 1912 and 1913 catalogs list a focusing screen and glass plate adaptor for the No. 4A and No. 4 Folding Pocket Kodak. In 1912 the No. 4A was available with a Rapid Rectilinear lens for $35, and with a Zeiss Kodak anastigmat f/6.3 lens for $72.50. In the 1913 catalog the price for the No. 4 with the RR lens in a basic Kodak Ball bearing shutter was $20. The Kodak Automatic Shutter with T, B, and 1-100 shutter added $5. The camera with the Zeiss f/6.3 lens in a Compound shutter with speeds up to 1/200 was $63. The glass plate adapter with ground glass was $5 in 1912 and $3.50 in 1913.
