Wide Format Printer - On or Off

Should a printer which might not be used for days at a time be turned off?

What are the ramifications of ink drying on the heads because the printer is on or off. Is there more purging (cleaning) due to turning on and off?

(I have an Epson 7800, I might use it for many days in a row, or it might sit unused for weeks>)

This issue has been beaten into the ground at the yahoo Epson Wide Format group. Search the archives. You'll find it's a religious issue.

I tend to leave mine on. The ink system stays pressurized when the printer is on. This "may" help keep difficult clogs from forming. I do remove the paper, as the printer leaves a compression line on the paper if it sits loaded into the printer for a few days. I often go weeks without using my Epson Ultrachrome 9600.
