Richmond, VA. Camera Stores?

My wife and I have planned a business trip to Richard, VA, on March 23 and 24. Due to difference in schedules, I may a few free hours.

Can anyone suggest a good camera store with large format and darkroom equipment?

Are there any photo shows or galleries you would recommend?

I'm not familiar with camera stores in Richmond. The 'Fan' section of town near Virginia Commonwealth University might have some galleries.

I live in Richmond and haven't graced a local store in so long its hard to call. Adams might be of interest, they've been there since the Civil War, never know what you'll find. The downtown (Broad Street) location of Richmond Camera would be the best bet there, but I can't say that they would have any equipment. I've never heard of that third one, I'll have to look it up.

Gallery-wise, no one here specializes in photography, if that's what you're after. In the same general area of Broad St, there are a bunch of galleries. Often there is photography on display.
Corporate Museum and Frame, also in the same area, has a small gallery amongst the frames. The owner is a photographer so there is often a display of photography there.
There are galleries a plenty in town, having a large art school helps.
VMFA is a good museum. They do own photography, but I don't know what's on display.

I see Gearhead is very close to my office, but I've never heard of them. A google search turned up that they cater to the motion picture industry, not the still photography industry. I too haven't graced a local store in ages. A few years ago, when I was setting up my B&W darkroom again, I checked out the local Richmond Camera store and found that they didn't have any HC-110 (or much of anything else related to b&w). They offered to "order" me some, but I turned them down and have been ordering from B&H and Badger ever since.

Actually it's very sad that with a "metropolitan area" population of over 1 million folks and VCU with over 20k students downtown that you have to "order" something like HC-110.

I *use* to be able to get Selenium toner, and all the basic chemicals from Richmond Camera on Patterson, but that seems to have mostly dried up as well. It is too bad.

I guess I am not surprise about the retail market. In Nashville, Dury’s is going digital. They still stock chemical, paper and other supplies but no hardware. No large format cameras at all.

Looks like I will visit the museums and galleries.
