    LaCie LCD Monitor for $99!!!

If anyone is looking for a new LCD monitor, LaCie just added a 19" screen for $99!! i don't know much about monitors, but LaCie is a respected name and $99 makes the thing nearly disposable if it doens't work well.

It says $649 now. And it's reconditioned (refurbished).

Dang .... I jsut looked too and it is 649.

OTOH, Eizo regularly has a bunch of 15 and 17 inch monitors in the 150 - 200 range at their clearance site. We use a couple in our scanning workshops and they are rock solid.

Scott, the LaCie CRT's were for sure. My understanding is that the LCD's are as well but I have no direct experience.

Eizo LCD monitors are often considered the industry standard. The answer is anabsolute yes they are up to photo editing. They have some of the most intelligent controls you will see on a monitor and most importantly when you calibrate them they stay calibrated. Informally and off-the-record, the folks at X-Rite recommend them without hesitation. We hae had no trouble with ours and that is after shipping theem around the country several times. You take one out of the box, put the puck on it to calibrate and it is ready to go in 5 minutes (simply meaning that the calibration generally has held from the original runthrough).
