    Kodak has 1 obligation above all others, the golden commandment above all for any public corporation:

    Thou shalt turn a profit

    Kodak feels that they are best serving their stockholders by going digital, and likely they are right, but they are being smart in that they are not throwing away their traditional avenues of profit (which have been having an upswing the past few years). Kodak needs to stop thinking of itself as an imaging company, and instead as a "memory preservation" society. Pictures, in the end, just preserve memories for one generation to pass onto the other. Kodak would be well suited to expand their digital offerings, as well as their film, and also to expand into other areas such as portable media, display systems, etc. Kodak has the patent portfolio and license rights to become the largest player in the picture world, and they don't see it.
