    A Page about Time Travel....

I just finished a short page on my little site about stepping back in time. Friday 12/15/2006 I had the privilege to photograph an artisan working at a forge in a 100 year old foundry in our town. What else would do but to make pictures with equipment that would have been at home there in 1913! A 5 minute respite from 2006.

Comments welcome. No, I couldn't re-build the building to get rid of the window...but...you take the hand you're dealt and go with it right?

Nice images Jim. Amazing how different the foundry area with the anvil appears with "life" happening.

The Gunderlach image of the gentleman sitting on the anvil to me has the most old world feel, not just the soft image quality but the "finished a hard days work, sweat of the brow feeling". It conveys to me a time of hard work but satisfaction with the task at hand as well.

I always enjoy your images and although I have liberated three almost 100 year old lenses from the Nevada lens vault my old images still look a bit too new .

    Well done Jim

    Steve

Would we be able to see the other 7 exposures you made?

Thank you for posting them. I always find something lovely in the things you post. We tend to have very similar taste a lot of the time.

Great project Jim - one I've had on the burner to do for some time with my ca1900 Anthony - shoot the subjects locally I can find, that the camera would have seen, back then. Every time I get that out to play I think about the fact that when its first owner took pictures neither Great Wars had happened, aeroplanes were literally trying to hop about, and you had a bigger chance of going to a shoot with it by buggy (or train), then by car. What a difference a generation makes...

Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about. "

Good stuff, man. I'd love to see more!
