    Rollei Direct Positive LF petitio

    nhi all

I've hacked together a petition for Rollei to produce the new Direct Positive (RDP) film for large format, which they don't initially plan to do:

I'll cross my fingers and sign the petition but will nto hold my breath. Remembr that Rollei doesn't actually make any film, it is sourced from other manufacturers. My guess would be that the RDP is, in fact, rebadged existing stock of Agfa Scala or the Agfa Scala formula being produced elsewhere.

How would this be better than choices we have now going through DR5?

I doubt. If you look at the datasheet for SCALA, you find that the spectral sensitivity is exacty the same as APX 100 and extends up to 650 nm like any regular panchromatic film.

The new direct positive RSD film announced by Rollei is described in the datasheet to be processed in a regular, non-reversal chemistry and its spectral sensitivity is limited to about 580 nm with a very different curve.

There is a copy of the datasheet in German here for the new RSD film :

My apologies, but the script was bad, and didn't work very well.

Re: Rollei Direct Positive LF petitio

I've looked at the data sheet early this week and they clearly state data for sheetfilm too:

    Konfektionierung (Available Sizes):
    Kleinbildfilm: 135-36 Artikel Nr.: RSD1011
    Rollfilm: 120 Artikel Nr.: RSD1001
    Planfilm (Sheetfilm): 4x5“ / 50 Blatt Artikel Nr.: RSD102
    8x10“ / 10 Blatt Artikel Nr.: RSD106
    10x10“ / 100 Blatt Artikel Nr.: RSD110

    Schichtaufbau (Layer Structure)
    - glasklarer PET-Träger (Glass Clear PET) 100 ?m KB(35mm) - und Rollfilme (roll film)
    180 ?m Planfilme (sheetfilm)
    - Emulsionsseite (emulsion side): Emulsionsschicht (emulsion layer), Lichthofschutzschicht (anti-halation layer),
    - Rückseite (Back side): Antistatikschicht (Anti-static layer) + Anti Newton Schicht (Anti-Newton Layer)

So are they or aren't they producing this in sheet film?

    Cheers,

    Edwin.

Dear aficionados of black & white slides.
A small game for the New Year beafore buying you first box of Rollei RSD in sheet film.

First re-read the technical data of the Rollei RSD film

    http://www.foto-riegler.at/pdf/Daten...IDE_DIRECT.pdf

Then download the perfectly official & public datasheet of the Agfa avitone film
    http://www.agfa.com/docs/sp/aerial/a...4-06-15_en.pdf

Compare the very peculiar spectral sensitivity curve of both films.

Compare both curves 'fog level in density'

Note that the very peculiar size of 10"x10" is available both from Rollei and Agfa

    And make your own conclusions
