If you maintain your own web site, ImageReady converts your files to load more efficiently on the internet.

It's helpful. It gives you screen previews for various amounts of compression and for different platforms and browsers. Using it lets you make better choices about your jpeg settings for the web.

No. I have concentrated on books that focus on photography so I do not get bogged down in all the other stuff that PS does. I suppose I should explore it.

The purpose of reading the manual of any software or hardware you purchase, is to make you aware of its capabilities. You might not absorb it all but that doesn't matter because usually if you have you have read it, you will remember that you read something about it and go back for more detailed information when the need arises. If you never read it in the first place, you will remain clueless.

I found CS2 ImageReady ( cand earlier versions CS and PS7 ) very usefull as I was able to build my entire website with both PS and ImageReady..... I know its not the proper way to build a website, but it works for me.
