    locking down an arca monoball

i've been trying out one of the new arca monoball z1 heads. i am accustomed to a geared head but i need to move around a wee bit faster for a current project...

the thing is, i can lock down the ballhead feature, but the pan feature, which is controlled with a smaller knob will not consistently lock down tight.

now if you are using a small camera that's no problem, but if you are going to slap in a polaroid 545 holder, then is starts to be worrysome.

anyone else experienced this problem, or am i experimenting with a "dud".

    thanks as always

Re: locking down an arca monoball

I was excited to hear about these ballheads, so this is unfortunate news. I can't imagine that there is a trick to it - probably just a design flaw. I had a similar problem with the Acratech Ultimate Ballhead - an otherwise excellent head with a panning platform that would not lock securely.

Please keep us posted - especially if you remedy the problem.
