Due to problems we have had with spammers, new members do not have access to certain areas, including member profiles and the classifieds for the first 30 days. The system will automatically change your member status after that point.

One of the drawbacks with a full-featured forum software package like vBulletin is that the features can seem confusing at first. You might find the FAQ (see link in the blue navigation bar) helpful. Remember, too, that the "Unified View" (the default initial presentation) is just the result of a convenient search of recent posts. You can get to the actual forum index by clicking on the "Forum" button at the upper left.

You don't require further activation, since you just joined. The original post was aimed at folks who were members prior to the software change in 2005.

Make sure you are logged in, and that you are allowing cookies. The security question on search is for people who are not logged in, near as I can tell.

The random question pops up for new members during the 30-day "probationary" period. You have a few days to go yet, Mike, before you get "promoted".
