Smile LFers' 2nd Annual Print Exchange Info

    Hi gang,

Thanks for being patient...life as a high school teacher...hard to find a moment for myself...

I thought we'd follow the same format as last time. I was thinking about doing a portfolio style...but that's a heck of a lot of work...maybe that could be done another time. So, lets just keep it simple for now.

Find your best image that you have taken this year. Make the best possible print from it. Make enough so that each participant gets one (last time I believe we had around 15 people).

Carefully package them in a bubble wrap type envelope. Also include info about the image (there is always a story behind it...include technical stuff too, 'cause this is a learning thing). I would like to recycle the bubble wrap envelopes and send prints back to you.
Also include your mailing address on your info sheet.
I will also need a bit of $$ to cover postage. Anywhere between $15-$20US should cover it, but I'll give you a better idea later. Last time some participants included a prepaid fed ex envelope ( I think it was fed ex...) If you want to go that route, that's fine.

    The Print:

Only prints from large format negatives (4x5, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14...) contacts, enlargements.
All silver prints must be on fibre.
digital prints from LF negs are fine.
    Alternative processes accepted too.

Deadline: January 31, 2007. Prints must be in, on or before this date.
I will then send out soon after this date.

How does all this sound? Anything we should change? Anyone have a better idea?
I need a cup of coffee...

    Cheers guys!

    Andrew

I forgot to ask you to let me know if you want in...I noticed quite an interest in the original thread. This thread will be the actual signup. The deadline to sign up for the print exchange will be this Friday, October 6th. After that, too bad. You'll have to wait 'til next time. So get your name in. After the 6th, I'll email all participants!

Why? Among all of the many options that a LF photographer may consider in choosing how to print a negative, why rule out RC paper in particular?

I've never participated in one of these before so I'll give it a try.

Re: LFers' 2nd Annual Print Exchange Info

I'd like to participate, but could you please educate me a little on how it works?

Do I simply make a print for everyone involved and send it to them with a self-addressed return envelope? Or am I sending all prints to you only, one for each participant?

I was thinking that the idea of a print exchange was for everyone to keep the prints in the end. Am I wrong?

Also, what size prints are recommended?

I'm considering participating as well, but at this point I'm only printing on RC. Is a Fiber print a must?

You send all your prints to me. I act as clearing house.

If everyone doesn't mind RC then I don't mind...How does everyone feel?
