Thread: Refurbished Epson 4990

    Re: Refurbished Epson 4990

Arhhhh! After enough phone calls to more than offset the savings of a refurbished 4990, getting special dispensation from the credit card company for Epson to bill to a non-APO address, Epson is still messing up. I can understand them not delivering to an APO address. I can't understand them not billing to an APO address in this day and age.
I thought I was going to be able to enter the big leagues by stepping up fro my Microtek 5900 to the Epson 4990. Looks like it will take a bit more time.

    Best regards.

Epson still has the refurbished 4990's in stock for $309 (free shipping). Here's a coupon code for an additional 10% off, which could take the price down to something under $280.

Epson 10% off no minimum : Code 6ZSAXFP

    Enjoy!

Just be prepared to return the thing. I got a refurbished one yesterday and the scan doesn't match the preview until it warms up after 15 minutes of steady use. They obviously don't test these things before sending them out.

    Re: Refurbished Epson 4990

I tried buying refurbished 4870 a few months back and gave up after two weeks of wrangling with them over the phone. They would not accept any of my credit cards, all issued by major banks, no APO address or such. They wouldn't even talk to them at all, just flatly refused and told me to use another one. I gave up after the third attempt.

While I can understand certain security concerns, their primary business goal seems to be to NOT sell as many units as possible. If only communism didn't fail, they'd fit real well into the East German or some oher such economic model. Heck, even the Chinese are eager to sell, just not the Epson Online Store.

Hello! Rumor has it that, despite Epson's best attempts to the contrary, I may have slipped under their security radar and actually purchased a 4990 through Epson store. Only time will tell! Best regards.

Hello! I didn't see the extra 10% on the web site. Where is it listed? Best regards.
