    Steens Mountain and Nearby Areas

I'm going to Steens Mountain and vicinity next week, driving from Bend to Burns and then down 205. If anyone has suggestions for specific locations on or near the mountain, or anything else on the way or in the general vicinity, I'd appreciate hearing about them.

Wonderful camping at Page Springs, or there was last June when I was there. Someone told me there was a fire in that area, but didn't know if Page got burned.

The Pete French round barn is near your route and should be worth the time.

Most of the land along 205 south of Frenchglen is private ranch land or at least they've got it posted as such. Not much ("nothing") in the way of facilities along that road either. There's a completely forgetable RV park a couple mile south of Denio, NV. If you head westward on 140, there is an area with wild burros often near the highway about 1/2 hour west from Denio Jct.

Thanks Alan, I plan to check out the French barn.
