    Hello from Los Angeles

    Hi all,

I've been lurking around while researching a LF camera. Decided to finally join in so I can fully participate in all the discussions. Nice to have a place on the net where everyone is still gushing over film!

Welcome from Vancouver, BC... in Canada.

Are you thinking 4x5 or larger?

I don't know why it wouldn't be. Tried to get any 12x20 Velvia lately? Sometimes, 4x5 is the biggest you can go.

    Hi Rob,

Are you referring to Michael's question of, "Is 4x5 even LF any more?"

As for 12x20, it probably IS more of a challenge to get in that size except from some of the specialty sellers.

However, you can still get film in 5x7, 8x10, and 11x14 sizes though...

    Cheers

Have you tried getting Velvia in any size other than 4x5 or 8x10 lately? I hope you have a really big budget....

Nope... nobody said it was going to be cheap! Or, easily accessible in large, large sizes!

LOL... I'm a little bit mystified by your jumping off point from my question of "Are you thinking 4x5 or larger" to your answer of "I don't know why it wouldn't be. Tried to get any 12x20 Velvia lately? Sometimes, 4x5 is the biggest you can go."

Anyway, would you re-read this thread?

    Cheers

Greetings from the midwest. With the way things in ULF are going, is 4x5 even LF any more? I once worked a little with a truly UULF camera--19 ft long, 5x7 ft back 7x9 ft copy board, lens like the port hole in a steamer. I could have slept in it!

Any way welcome aboard, and the water is fine!

Welcome. Terence. FYI There are two members of this forum who currently have LF shows in LA, Chris Jordan is showing his Katrina series at the Paul Kopeikin Gallery in LA and I have a show at Freestyle Photographics through Nov. 14.
    Thanks,
