To Canadians, where are you buying 4x5 film?

I can't find ready-load, nor selection, nor Polaroid 4x5 in Canada.

Does it have to be in Canada? I think Henry's has an Ottawa location so you could ask them to order the stuff for you. Just don't faint at the prices.

    J&C
    Freestyle
    B&H

Any of those from the US deliver happily to Canada. If it wasn't for the thread on box opening I'd suggest any of them 100%

    Hi Vick,

Some kinds of film, like Tri-X, are relatively inexpensive in Canada. I buy mine at Vistek here in Toronto. You might e-mail them for shipping costs to Ottawa. Here's their sheet film price list: www.tinyurl.com/j9vb5

Back when I used ReadyLoad film, I bought it from B&H. Even when you included shipping costs, it was 25% cheaper than buying it in Canada.

    Thanks all to who replied.

I was hoping for a really good answer, but from what I can tell:
    - there is little selection in Canada
    - the prices are high in Canada

For 120/220, I've been buying from Vistek. But I can't even find close to the price or selection from Vistek, or Henry's when comparing to BH Video for 4x5 film..

I'm hoping the "opening packages" for inspection is a short-lived anomaly.

    Hi Vick,

I buy mine from The Camera Store in Calgary, Lens & Shutter or Beau Photo in Vancouver.

You can forget about Fuji Quickloads in Canada... Fuji Film doesn't bring it into the country. Special order or not! Even 5x7 Fuji films are not accessible so... I buy mine from Badger Graphics.

I just received a box of 8x10 Provia from a friend down in LA. The box came through Customs un-opened and unscathed. So, I'm thinking that the "opening of film boxes" isn't going to be the norm.

Talk to Rob Skeoch (one of the forum members) about your requirements...

    Cheers

Hell folks, buy it from Japan (well, at least the Fuji stuff). B&H does, for very little money - why shouldn't you? It'd be cool to put together a co-op.

    Well,

I just bought a bunch of film from an ebay store in the US.

Cheaper than BH Video, and I'm hoping that all goes well with shipping.

Oh, I just wander down to downtown Camera in Toronto for my 4x5 ilford films. 8 Elm has some 5x7 film and some of the more specialty papers, albeit at possibly outrageous pricing. 8 Elm also has forte paper and films, and bergger stuff as well. I had one instance of some really rude attendants at Vistek and havn't been back.

that idea is interesting.. I'm in... although I would be more interested in getting someone to make HIE in 4x5 again in bulk.... I'm dying to do some infrared on my 4x5

Just use tech pan (if you can find it - it's on ebay at least a few times a month in 4x5) or aerial film with an IR filter. Both films are IR-sensitive and should respond just like classic IR formulations - but will probably be slower.
