Ebony Non-folding or Folding Camera

Thank you for the offer Robert but unfortunately I live in the UK. Tempted to come over though..

As Lenoard mentioned, I love the idea of going from camera bag to tripod in one swift movement. Not essential but nice.

Looks like I might have to take the plunge on the non-folding...

Since you live in the UK, have you thought of traveling down to Robert Whites in southern England for a look. I know that he sells Ebonys.

Nothing about the 8 x 10 process is quick anyway, so I am not sure that a non-folding would speed up the process much anyway. I have a folding 8 x 10 and non-folding arca (4 x 5). Yes, the non-folding is quicker to set up, but I still have to compose and meter the scene....so... A monorail type can be more stable, but my Wehman 8 x 10 (folding) is VERY stable due to the design (and light too). I guess what I am trying to say is that whatever you feel more comfortable with is maybe what you should go with.

Also, I will carry the camera on the tripod, fully set-up with lens on the camera (not fully extended bellows of course, but 'basically' ready to go) because its easier for short distances.
