    Jorge

Many of us have disagreed, sometimes violently with Jorge's statements. Nonetheless that doesn't change that he is now a fellow fine art photographer in trouble. The initial post from APUG follows:

"Cancer is no discriminator of who or when it strikes. It is an insidious disease that zaps a person not only physically but emotionally. Treatment is often times painful and makes you extremely sick. One of our fellow apuggers has recently under gone surgery and will be doing follow up chemo and radiation therapy.

It is our own Jorge. He not only has to deal with all of this, but he has no insurance. The costs of this are not cheap, and add to the emotional overload of these circumstances. We may individually have had unpleasantness with Jorge, but not withstanding he is a person and a fellow apugger. He is in need and is not asking us, but I am. I personally have a long history of butting heads with Jorge. For this disease, his stubborness will go a long way to help him confront what is ahead. He makes me angry, he makes me laugh, he makes me grind my teeth, he holds me in awe of his ability as a photographer. Under all the bluster he is a very good guy and deserves our help.

I have no time in the near future to handle this. Hopefully there will be someone else who can spear head this. I know Sean will do what he can to help (he always comes through for his ape hugger flock).

Jorge is going to be mad at me for jumping the gun asking for help, but he needs a bit of good to help him through this ordeal. I'll gladly take his wrath (since I will be out of commission while he is angry). I know I will miss butting heads with him, I want to see him around for a good long time.

UPDATE - YOU CAN PAYPAL DONATIONS TO JORGE USING HIS PAYPAL EMAIL ACCOUNT ADDRESS OF: paladio06@prodigy.net.mx

UPDATE - Jorge has stated on page 2 of the thread:
    Quote:
Thank you all for your help and prayers. This is something I have been battling for a long time but in this instance the cancer returned in a worse manner. You have no idea how much your help means to me!

Once again thank you! while I really appreciate your help and kindness I would feel better if anybody who wishes to help me purchases one of my prints. I will be the next 20 days in radio and chemotherapy but once I am back I would make the prints and mail them, if you can wait then this would really help.

It is hard to express and write the feelings this kind of response generates, Kevin knows what I mean, there are no words that can really say what this means for someone who needs help.

    Thank you,

    Jorge.

If you would like to purchase one of Jorge's prints you can do so via the apug-gallery. His gallery is here: http://www.apug-gallery.com/gallery.php?gid=67

I will not be taking commission on these print sales, 100% of the funds will be transferred to Jorge. I own two of Jorge's prints and they are phenominal, the scans in the gallery do not reflect the quality. -Sean

I am very sorry to hear this. I had missed his caustic incantations recently. Jorge was like that bad dog we have all owned but who we loved to death anyway. I will send a donation as a token of the later. Get well Jorge, we need your acidic wit.
    Thanks,

I have never bought a piece of art in my life, only traded for them. Has anyone seen an original of this image. I am drawn to it. I have never seen any of jorge's work first hand.

    Kirk,

I have not seen that specific print, but I have another one and I have seen a couple more. Based on that first-hand knowledge, I can just about guarantee you would not be disappointed with any of Jorge's work.

I have two of his images. Not this one, but I am sure, like mine, it is beautiful.

    Ted,
thank you for posting this. It's always been an adventure to read Jorge's posts and I always enjoyed them. I would encourage all of us to buy a Jorge original print. I just bought this one: http://www.apug-gallery.com/details.php?gid=67&sgid=&pid=373. I really like the composition and the light. I wish Jorge a speedy recovery and as much energy in fightingt this damn desease as he has always shown in his posts here and over at APUG!

That one is very nice Jurgen. I have a print of that image. I hope to buy another of Jorge's images - I own four and they are all beautiful- but it will have to wait a few weeks before I can place the order. I have not seen an original of the one that Kirk mentioned. I'm sure you will be pleased with it.

Does anyone know what sort of cancer Jorge has?

    Jorge,

Our prayers go with you in the hope that you fully recover from this dreaded disease.

    Ted,

I'm having a bit of a problem opening those links that you provided... would you be so kind as to list them on separate lines?

    Thank you

    Cheers
    Life in the fast lane!

    Jorge,

    My prayers go with you.

    Kirk,

I haven't seen that image in person, but I do own "http://www.apug-gallery.com/details.php?gid=&sgid=&pid=375" It's a beautiful print and a favorite in my collection. I'm sure the image you're considering looks great. I proudly hang the print by Jorge on the same wall as my Karsh and Adams.

I plan to purchase another in the next few weeks.
